Job Description


As
a Senior Software Engineer, you will employ your technical expertise to
help your team implement new features, refactor key parts of the
codebase, and improve the overall quality of the product. Along the way
you will be challenged to grow professionally and predictably ship code
that helps your team achieve business goals.


Responsibilities


  • Understand your team's domain and work productively within it
  • Consistently design code that utilizes design abstractions and encapsulation effectively
  • Write sustainable high-quality, high-performance code
  • Effectively communicate peer review feedback to help your peers produce better code
  • Use systematic debugging techniques and tools (logs, traces, metrics) to diagnose issues
  • Approach
    all assignments with a security lens, actively look for security
    vulnerabilities both in the code and when providing peer reviews
  • Review stories critically and ensure they’re appropriately broken down, and dependencies are well understood by the team
  • Mentor teammates in an open, respectful, flexible, empathetic manner
  • Participate in rotating on-call duties, including incident management

Technical Skills


  • Strong competency in Ruby, Ruby on Rails, JavaScript, and modern CSS
  • Interest in building modern interactive web applications via Hotwire (Turbo and Stimulus) and ViewComponents
  • Experience with PostgresSQL or other relational databases, writing advanced queries, and query optimization
  • Familiarity with AWS or other cloud providers
  • Solid foundation of web application security, observability, troubleshooting, and development practices
  • Ability to deeply review code and deliver feedback in a constructive manner

  • The
    anticipated annual base salary range for this role is
    $170,000-$190,000. Actual compensation and title will be commensurate
    with experience, qualifications, knowledge, and skills.
